Lasting Vows

It was inevitable. From the moment I started reading my wedding vows, I also started to sob uncontrollably  (in the absolute sloppiest fashion possible).

At the same time, my voice carried across that patio space like a church mouse, leaving my guests with nothing but a few faint squeaks, muffled sounds and sniffles. Definitely embarrassing, and not at all what I had intended.

So today, to redeem myself, I would like to restate my vows in the most concrete and lasting way I know how. And while incredibly personal, vows (and specifically mine) are meant to be shared.

Here’s to my new husband and to all those who came out to celebrate with us this past weekend. What I lack in my voice, I will try to make up for in words:

Before I met you John, I wasn’t sure I would ever find someone special to share my life with,

In fact, I had almost given up hope,

But when we met, everything made sense,

All the pieces fell into place, all at the right time,

And in what seemed like an instant, I had this incredible companion by my side who understood and accepted me for who I was, in spite of all of my flaws,

John – my life is better with you in it,

I am a better person because of you,

You challenge, inspire and motivate me on a daily basis,

You are incredibly sweet, caring, intelligent and handsome,

I couldn’t ask for a better friend, lover or partner in life,

Today is just a continuation of what we already have together,

And I can’t wait to spend the rest of my days and nights with you.

Love now and always,
